Your reed looks fine at a casual glance, but is being a pain and it is squeaking on the simplest passages. Could it be cracked? Often a clarinet for beginners tutorial barely mentions how to deal with cracked reeds. I will discuss it in more detail.
Hold it up to a light and look through the reed. Do you see any dark lines running up towards the tip? If so, you should suspect that line of being a crack. While you’re looking at the broadside of the reed, check it for nicks in the tip. Does it look like a mouse took a tiny bite out of it? A small break like that is not an insurmountable problem so long as it’s on a corner. However, a break in the middle means it time for a new reed.
Next, check for crinkles along the front edges of the reed as these could be the beginning of cracks.
